On Bumble, women message first. But once that first message is sent, the pressure shifts and most guys fumble it.
What makes a good Bumble opener
The best openers aren't the wittiest or the most creative. They're the ones that are easiest to reply to.
Three patterns that work
React to something specific. If her first message references something in your profile, actually engage with it. Don't just say “haha yeah” and pivot. She opened a door, so walk through it.
Ask something with a real answer. “What would you order if you could only eat one cuisine for a year?” is better than “tell me something interesting about yourself.” Specific questions get specific answers. Vague questions get vague answers.
Be a little playful, not performative. There's a difference between someone who's genuinely fun to talk to and someone who's clearly trying to be fun. The first says something a little unexpected. The second sends a TED Talk as a first message.
When you're not sure what to send
When you're not sure what angle to take, Charmlet generates reply ideas based on their profile and the conversation so far. You can set the tone (playful, friendly, direct) and get a few options to pick from or riff on.
